Small business trip to Alicante
One day I received an invitation to a job interview that was being held in Alicante. So, as you can imagine I couldn't miss an opportunity visit this wonderful city and gain some experience in international corporation.
My trip to Alicante started with a flight from Riga to Oslo. I was taken there by a very small almost like a private plane.
In Oslo I took another plane from SAS company. It was my first time using it and I was really surprised to find out it had an onboard wifi connection. Couldn't wish for more on a plane. Really great company.
First of all I had to go to an interview. This is the place I got off the bus. Alicante is straight ahead.
But I have to say that this is probably one of the best bus stops I've ever seen.
And here is an office building I was heading to.
After the interview I headed straight to Alicante.
The temperature was really hot. Too hot I would say.
Not many people on the streets as well, since it's Fiesta and nobody is working in the middle of a day.
The old part of town in Alicante.
Really small clean streets.
In the middle of it is Mount Benacantil and Castle of Santa Bárbara.
Mount Benacantil is a mount that dominates the urban part of Alicante, and is the characteristic image of the city.
The Castle of Santa Bárbara is a fortification in the center of Alicante. It stands on the Mount Benacantil 166 m heigh.
View on Alicante, Spain.
Coastline of Alicante.
On top of it of course is a Spanish flag.
On top of The Castle of Santa Bárbara.
Port right in the middle of the city.
Watching early sunset.
Castle wall that goes all the way down the mountain.
It is possible to get up there using elevator but I didn't want to miss the views so I took a long walk.
Really small and tourist friendly part of the city.
Lots of different restaurants, bars and cafes.
At night it gets a little bit cooler, and it's much easier to walk around the city.
Much more people that at daytime.
One of the largest trees in Alicante and in Spain. They are really huge. Remind me of an "Avatar" movie tree.
The later it gets the more people appear on the streets. I suppose it's more of a night city.
Some classic souvenirs.
The Castle of Santa Barbara on the background.
Seashore at night. Lots of people are having night meals or take a swim. The water is really warm.
The same view in the morning.
Since in Latvia it was already cold and rainy it was like a small holiday for me.
Please correct me if I'm wrong but I think it's 1980 308 GTSi Ferrari.
Main streets of Alicante.
A fish market. Spain is famous for it's fresh fish. This one has been caught just this morning.
Fruits are just amazing. So fresh and juicy.
Spanish turron which is made in Alicante. A must try thing if you ever visit Spain.
Once again the same "Avatar" trees at day time.
It's so old that many trees have been joined together to form one big tree.
So huge it can't even hold its own weight.
Couldn't resist buying one earlier at the fruit market.
Pedestrian path, Alicante, Spain.
As you can see I was the only one there. No people at all what so ever.
Well, almost. These guys are everywhere. :)
Sitting by the docs.
Local entertainment ship. It stays in one city for a while and then heads to the next one.
Great view on the city from the pier.
Time to go back home. Thank you for the wonderful weekend.comments powered by Disqus
