Visiting Hank Moody in Los Angeles!

The next stop after San Francisco was of course the city of lost angels - Los Angeles!

LA-1.jpg

Los Angeles is waiting for us.

LA-2.jpg

I always like to explore different airports in different cities and countries. In America every single one is amazing. Check out these red chairs for instance. Also as you can see free tables with power sockets and wifi are available to plug in your notebooks and do your work while waiting for the plane.

LA-3.jpg

I wonder if this is one of our planes.

LA-4.jpg

Ready to fly.

LA-5.jpg

Leaving San Francisco.

LA-6.jpg

Here is one last glimpse on a "Golden Gate" park. It goes right till the Pacific ocean. There's a "Golden Gate" bridge as well.

LA-7.jpg

As always no problems with wifi on a plane.

LA-8.jpg

Beautiful Californian coastline.

LA-10.jpg

And here we are landing in LA. "Holly crap" - I thought.

LA-11.jpg

This looks nothing like in San Francisco! Where the hell is all the nature?

LA-9.jpg

And the worst thing is that I have to drive a car down there.

LA-12.jpg

I guess this is the center - downtown of LA. You can see the Hollywood sign on the hills to the right.

LA-14.jpg

It really is huge.

LA-15.jpg

And where is the airport? Looks like we are landing on the streets.

LA-16.jpg

Or maybe we are..

LA-17.jpg

The same thing in LA airport. Very thoughtful.

LA-19.jpg

It's time to find our rental agency.

LA-37.jpg

I've had enough with all these small terrible economy cars. This time I decided to take a real American muscle car - 3.5l Dodge Charger. It costed about 240$ for a week which really isn't that much for 250BHP and an engine sound that can start earthquakes.

LA-21.jpg

Getting used to it.

LA-22.jpg

By the time we were out of the airport it was already getting dark and given that till our hotel was about 20km we decided to hit the beach first.

LA-23.jpg

Unlike in San Francisco which is only 450 km away from Los Angeles it was much much warmer.

LA-24.jpg

And completely different. Very peaceful district I would say.

LA-26.jpg

So we decided to leave it and try to see popular Venice beach, before it got dark.

LA-29.jpg

Luckily it was only about 10 km away.

LA-30.jpg

In March 2009, the city opened a sophisticated $2,000,000 skate park. Very popular place for skaters from all over the world. I've no idea why the hell is it so expensive though.

LA-31.jpg

But a skate park, on a beach, between palms and sand, this is real California. Now all we had to do is find Hank. :)

LA-32.jpg

Beautiful sunset in LA.

LA-33.jpg

Sunset on the Venice beach in Los Angeles, USA.
This scene calls for the next soundtrack. It really is a Californian dream.

LA-36.jpg

I think summer lasts all year long here. Even at night the temperature was about 25C degrees.

LA-38.jpg

The next morning we got in our car and headed for the first place I think everybody would go - the Hollywood sign. But first let me explain. Los Angeles is the only city where the number of cars equals to the number of citizens. So even though it has huge highways the traffic is just terrible. You surely can't live without a car in LA (unlike in New York or San Francisco) but if you do get behind the wheel you better be an experienced driver.

LA-39.jpg

And don't forget that red light right turns are also allowed in America. Except for some states like New York.

LA-40.jpg

An add of historical road 66 which I will show you in my next posts.

LA-43.jpg

And here it is. One of the most popular signs in the world.

LA-46.jpg

Hollywood sign, Los Angeles, USA.

LA-51.jpg

Well, I suppose everyone would want to take a picture with it. :)

LA-55.jpg

Locals seems to got used to it. I wonder how much it costs them to live here. Maybe this is a millionaire sitting over there chilling.

LA-54.jpg

Why not to take some videos as well?

LA-56.jpg

Really strange feeling seeing something you got used to see only on television.

LA-61.jpg

LA-63.jpg

LA-68.jpg

Next we decided to climb a hill a little bit to see the sign closer.

LA-69.jpg

It's no use to climb all the way to the sign, since there is nothing interesting. Besides it was so hot, that it felt like you are in a desert.

LA-72.jpg

Closest picture to the Hollywood sign.

LA-70.jpg

Beautiful view on the city.

LA-74.jpg

It is possible to get a horse if you are too lazy to go up the hill on your own.

LA-83.jpg

Try to find our way without navigator - it's just impossible.

LA-88.jpg

Those palms look great or whatever those trees are.

LA-181.jpg

Is it me or you also see a BLIMP!?! Do they still fly? "What the hell" - I thought, while taking a shot. :)

LA-89.jpg

Also interesting idea of putting adds on a bench. City looks more colourful.

LA-182.jpg

Typical American truck.

LA-90.jpg

Since Los Angeles is huge we decided to take a ride. LA from the car isn't the best I admit but at least we got the idea of the city.

LA-92.jpg

Hollywood Guinness Museum.

LA-94.jpg

Disney's studio. You need at least a day to spend in every one of those places - Disneyland, Universal studio etc. So plan definitely more than a day if you are planning on visiting them and see the city as well.

LA-95.jpg

Beautiful streets of Los Angeles. Just as you would imagine them them to be. The sun, the palms, great road, american car. I'm in a dream.

LA-97.jpg

Downtown of LA.

LA-99.jpg

Interesting street sign.

LA-100.jpg

LA-101.jpg

LA-102.jpg

Next stop was "Los Angeles County Museum of Art".

LA-106.jpg

Some kind of "spaghetti" hanging down.

LA-107.jpg

Palms :)

LA-120.jpg

Urban lights, Los Angeles, USA.

LA-113.jpg

LA-118.jpg

LA-121.jpg

Once again. Coca - cola - best drink in America.

LA-123.jpg

Not really sure what this idea represents.

LA-125.jpg

Old BMW.

LA-126.jpg

Airport is somewhere near by I suppose.

LA-131.jpg

And now we're back on the Venice beach. Time to see it at day time and of course go for a swim.

LA-128.jpg

Venice beach, Los Angeles, USA.

LA-130.jpg

This is the very place where Hank Moody took a walk at the end of Season 2 in Californication.

LA-127.jpg

I have no idea why it is called this way but I sure love it here.

LA-132.jpg

Street art.

LA-134.jpg

I think you can see absolutely anything in this place.

LA-135.jpg

Skateboards. Or maybe surf..

LA-143.jpg

LA-145.jpg

Small aliens.

LA-136.jpg

People are using literally all kind of transport and sport equipment here. From rollerblades till the stuff I've even no idea how to call it.

LA-137.jpg

Beautiful Malibu style beach. Exactly as it used to appear in Baywatch.

LA-138.jpg

It's hard to see how huge the waves were.

LA-139.jpg

Happy :)

LA-140.jpg

You can feel the spirit of Californian dream.

LA-142.jpg

LA-141.jpg

Everybody are happy, smiling, no rush, no worries - life is wonderful here. You forget about everything.

LA-144.jpg

Even homeless guys look much cooler. :)

LA-147.jpg

Street basketball. Serious game here.

LA-148.jpg

Just look at it. Doesn't seem to me that Americans have a crisis.

LA-146.jpg

Beautiful Californian sunset.

LA-149.jpg

Let me stay here a little longer.

LA-150.jpg

Time to head back to our hotel. We decided to take a root along the beach.

LA-152.jpg

Looking for the black Porsche with one headlight.. If you know what I mean :)

LA-153.jpg

Can it really get any better?

LA-154.jpg

LA-155.jpg

Familiar place. At night street lights look even better.

LA-156.jpg

Next morning we had a little time so we headed back to the beach. Like there's anywhere else we could go in such weather..

LA-157.jpg

Once again, people are enjoying their life to the fullest.

LA-159.jpg

LA-161.jpg

Surfing? Sure!

LA-160.jpg

Can't imagine how expensive it is to live here.

LA-162.jpg

Beautiful Malibu beach.

LA-164.jpg

And here are the safeguards - Malibu style.

LA-175.jpg

Lifeguard watch towers.

LA-166.jpg

LA-165.jpg

LA-167.jpg

LA-172.jpg

LA-174.jpg

One of the best parking lots.

LA-178.jpg

Great waves for surfing.

LA-180.jpg

It's time to go back to the Airport and continue our road trip to Las Vegas.

LA-183.jpg

Interesting sign in the bus. All Americans really do trust in Jesus and in God, which is basically the same thing.

LA-184.jpg

Welcome to Los Angeles international airport. Airports originally used a 2-letter abbreviation. When they expanded to 3 letters, an X was added, but it has no special meaning. It's time to go to Vegas. :)
