New wave, Tall Ship Races and Fireworks in Riga
July is usually a party month in Riga and this year was no exception. In just one weekend we had several major events like New Wave show, Comedy club parties, The Tall Ship Races event that ended up with a hue fireworks.
Jomas street in Jurmala.
Popular Jurmala globe.
As always completely impossible to park.
Parking is mostly full with Mercedes, BMW and Porsche cars.
People are waiting for the celebrities to arrive.
New wave entrance
I wonder who has this red Porsche?
New wave baloons
Rolls Royce, Range Rover, Mercedes :)
Fancy cars go right up to the beach.
Some people are even using binoculars to see the action.
Fancy car traffic.
Stylish Lithuanians in Jurmala.
The next day we went to see the Tall Ship Races 2013. I haven't seen so many people in a long time here.
The ships are quite huge as well.
A girl is capturing the view. I think she got it pretty well.
And of course a stage with some performance show.
I wish it was sunnier and the skies were blue.
After ten years the sailing event "Tall Ships Races 2013" with its innumerable magnificent tall ships are visiting Riga again.
Such a nice place to visit. Lucky all the tourists that came here at the right time.
Real Swedish ship.
If you want to get on the ship you must stay in line for at least half an hour or even more. People are just everywhere.
I suppose a russian ship.
And this one might come from the UK. Guess why? :)
I wonder how it is possible to maintain all these ropes.
Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Lithuania, Sweden and Russia.
And here I am.
The ships are so huge that can be seen from miles long distance.
Welcome to Riga
As the evening came the crowd gathered for the fireworks. I was lucky to find a good spot.
Even though the best view might be somewhere near the ships. I was standing on the bridge but as it turned out at the side of the fireworks.
As the people came the traffic got much worse until it stopped completely.
Riga is ready.
And here they go.
Not the best angle I suppose but still quite good spot for admiring.
And we were lucky to have such a beautiful summer evening as well.
So enjoy the fireworks.
Fireworks lasted for over 20 minutes.
Not the best place for the people to stand behind it. I was lucky not to have smoke coming in my direction.
At the end the smoke covered all of the left bank of the river.
But the view was spectacular.
The last bits of it.
And here are the ships at night. I think now they look even more gorgeous.
I wish the crowd would stay still. :)
The next morning we arrived to see the ships leaving Riga.
There sure were a lot of people who wanted to see them for the last time.
Even from above.
Unfortunately not all ships opened their sales.
It's a shame to realise that the same even will take place maybe only in ten years.
Hope to see you again some day.
Some were smaller that the others.
One of the largest ships here.
Captain Glowacki from Poland made a surprise for us.
They look so cool on up there.
But as you can see they all have safety belts.
See you :)
As you can see the crew consists of girls as well.
This one started to open its sales.
Say goodbye to the last ship of the Tall Ship Races 2013.comments powered by Disqus
